There is 7 million  km2 salt in the world.Not only with its protective feature,its taste in meals,but also with its sacred symbol in ancient times salt is valuable.According to the idea of the ancient Greek,salt is a sacred symbol,because it includes earth,air,water and fire.It was used  at the rituals in those days.Nowadays it is used in the field of health and in 14 thousend manufacture of products.

Throughout history salt was used as sweetening and protecting substance.First of all it balances the liquids in the body.Even if we drink enough water, the amount of water in our body can drastically decrease.

The daily salt need of an adult is 6-8 gram but it changes according to the weather conditions and physical  works.Actually salt,we need is available in our daily food.We consume a large amount of salt but ancient people consumed balanced salt.for example: Eskimos didn’t add salt in their food.Because of the increase in the consumption of salt  obesity,hypertension and hardening of the arteries are big problems nowadays.

In India people live on vegetarien.They become ill because of the high temperature.Especially animals need drastically salt in summer.They lick even the walls.

Where is salt commen? The answer is naturally “in the sea”.Earth includes a big amount of salt too.Although fresh water flows in the sea every year,the amounth of salt in seas don’t decrease.

Salt is not only very important fort hat has been the most basic codinment for centuries but also it is important for its feature of being protective.Salt which is used as the protective of fish,meat and vegetables,has been the most necessary supplies fort he winters which is supposed to be pass awfully.Furtermore, owing to its protective feature,the soldiers of Roman empire reached to paletsine and so salt has an important place in spreading of christianity  throughout the world.

We see that the salt production was in the control of the priests who saw the production of food as a way of prayer to god in 12th century.In the late of 13th century,the priests withdrawed themselves from the salt production and they adopted themselves to much more spiritual matters after feudal state owneds acquired the government.Hence barons called lord of the salt dominated the production and delivery of salt in the middle age.Until the and of the 18th century,salt which was used as the protective of taste and nutrients began to be used in other areas with the discovery of chlorine by scheele who was a swedish physicist and the discovery of sodium carbonate by Nicolas Leblanc.

Nowadays,salt is used in manufactoring of 14000 different products and most of them including the field of health. More incoming techniques overtook  the protector role like bottling,tinning,vacuuming and deep-freezing. Table salt is being obtained by pulverizing the salt blocks removed from rock salt mines,by decomposing brine made of rock salt solution or by evaporating sea water.

The most famous salt mine in history is in Hallstatt in Austria Alps.It is altitude of 1000 meters.That means Celtic people,who put up salt at the region,had advanced techniques and established a rich city.

Salt, because of coming from sea-the source of life- preserves all  foods from decaying and languishing.According to symbolism of freemasonry,sulfur represents the structure of destructive male,but salt represents the structure of creative female that is the life,the woman and the mother. It provides purifying water by putting into holy water in Catholics’ baptism ceremonies. It is a part of most of the religions’ rites of exorcism. Romans and Jews purified their sacrifices with salt. According to Christian belief, when devil serves the meals he/she doesn’t sprinkle salt. It was believed that  the salt protected them from the devil like cross.
